Inside Dion Fragrance: How Perfume Is Made From Scratch in Obuasi, Ghana

As part of the Global Corners documentary journey, we visited Dion, the mind behind Dion Fragrance, to understand how perfume is made — not from imported bottles or ready-made oils, but from scratch.
Dion Fragrance is located in Obuasi off Odotobiri Rural Bank at White House Bar, opposite Barimma Dokono. It’s an everyday location, easy to pass by without noticing, yet inside, something special is happening.
From the moment we arrived, Dion walked us through his entire process. He explained the raw materials he works with, how different scents are combined, and the patience it takes to get a fragrance right. Perfume making, as he showed us, is not rushed work. It requires attention, testing, and experience — sometimes starting over until the balance feels right.
What stood out was how hands-on everything was. No shortcuts. No mass production. Just careful mixing, observation, and knowledge built over time. Watching the process from beginning to end made it clear that this is more than a business. It’s a craft.
Beyond perfumes, Dion is also involved in clothing and watches, showing a broader creative side to his brand. Each item reflects the same idea behind his fragrances — individuality and identity. It’s about offering something different, something personal.
This visit wasn’t about promotion or advertising. It was about documentation. About showing the work behind the product and the person behind the brand. At Global Corners, moments like this are exactly why the channel exists — to step into real spaces, listen to real people, and share stories that often go unseen.

Dion Fragrance is one example of the many local creators shaping their communities quietly, one process at a time. And Obuasi, like many places, holds more stories than we often realize — you just have to stop and look.
This documentary visit reminds us that value isn’t always loud. Sometimes, it’s found in small rooms, careful hands, and people who choose to build something from nothing.
