Three distinguished High Court judges and a veteran army officer were kidnapped during curfew hours on that fateful night and were discovered dead. The entire country and the world were stunned when their burnt bodies were found at the Bundase Military Range in the Accra Plains. In addition to attacking individual lives, this act of violence also targeted the independence of the court and the rule of law. As a result of their sacrifice and commitment to justice, Justices Cecilia Koranteng-Addow, Fred Poku Sarkodee, Kwadwo Agyei Agyapong, and Major Sam Acquah (Rtd.) are now honored on Martyrs' Day every year.
